IC(Industry Canada)

IC is the Canadian standard for communications, similar to the FCC in the U.S., aiming to safeguard life and property in radio and other communication environments. Most electrical/electronic devices, including communication devices and PCs, must obtain IC approval to be exported to Canada.

Items

  • Terminal devices
    (subject to formal approval)
    • Electronic and communication-related products such as PC peripherals, telephones, fax machines, modems, answering machines, keyphones, PBX (Private Branch Exchange), network protection devices, etc.
  • Wireless communication devices
    Type 1 device
    (subject to Type approval)
    • Mobile wireless communication devices (land, air, maritime), cellular phones, wireless computer links, low-power devices, fixed communication service devices using frequencies below 960MHz, 800MHz dual-mode cellular phones, etc.
  • MDD
    Type 2 device
    (not subject to Type approval)
    • Industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) RF generators, information and communication devices generating and using wired and wireless frequencies above 10KHz such as floppy disk drives, storage devices, keyboards, printers, video monitors, etc.

* Terminals and Type I wireless communication devices require industrial certification in Canada, whereas Type 2 wireless communication devices can be sold without separate industrial certification if they comply with the technical specifications.

Guidelines for Test Registration

  • When submitting the initial testing request, it is mandatory to provide the business registration certificate.
  • If the applying company is different from the invoice-issuing company, the testing request must include the contact person/contact number/email of the invoice-issuing company.
  • Upload documents required for testing, such as product specifications and product photos (user manuals, documents outlining differences in the case of derivative models, etc.).
  • The required quantity of samples for certification is one unit, unless specific circumstances necessitate otherwise (additional requests can be made if necessary).
  • Clearly indicate the quantity of samples.
  • Testing will proceed only after the sample has been received and the testing fee has been paid in full.
  • The testing fee is subject to internal regulations of the institute.
  • Domestic testing fees should be transferred to the following account: (Bank) Woori Bank 974-023999-13-007 (Account Holder) KIEL Research Institute.

  • Delays or insufficient submission of documents may result in delayed issuance of test reports.
