KIEL Institute, Top Award at the 1st Designated Testing Agency Competition

Through Practical and Written Exams, Exceptional Situation Handling and Test Processing Skills Confirmed at the Highest Level

[Industry News, Reporter Hwang Mu-seon] KIEL Institute (President Cho Hyeon-hoon) won the top award (Minister of Science and ICT Commendation) at the 1st Designated Testing Agency Suitability Evaluation Measurement Technology Competition. The competition aimed to enhance the competitiveness of testing and evaluation technology for broadcasting and communication equipment and foster personnel.

The Ministry of Science and ICT's National Radio Research Institute hosted the competition, and the Korea Information and Communication Test Laboratory Association organized it. KIEL Institute, a foundation, received the top award in the competition sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

This competition was held for testing and measurement professionals in designated testing agencies in Korea. It evaluated various aspects, such as encouraging field experts, improving measurement technology for new devices, and evaluating under the same conditions as applying test methods for undeveloped wireless devices.

The test consisted of online written exams and practical exams. The first online written evaluation for domestic designated testing agencies was conducted on October 26, selecting the top 5 agencies first. Additionally, on November 22, the second practical evaluation was held at the SETEC Convention Center to select outstanding agencies by combining the results of the first and second rounds. As a result of the test, Kiel Research Institute was selected as the best agency, achieving the highest scores in situation handling and test processing skills.

The top award in this competition is seen as a recognition of KIEL Institute's continuous interest and investment in the wireless field. KIEL Institute, originally specialized in the lighting field, has recently expanded its business areas into various fields, focusing on relevant areas in line with the government's carbon neutrality and demand efficiency policies.

Especially, with the recent name change, KIEL Institute is actively expanding its business areas in various fields, including green energy, convergence research and development, testing, certification, standardization, and personnel training.

In the field of electromagnetic waves, which is a new business area, it was designated as a testing agency by the National Radio Research Institute in 2019 and has been performing suitability assessment tasks. Subsequently, in 2020, it was additionally designated as a testing agency in the wireless field. Based on this, KIEL Institute has been making efforts to secure the competitiveness of suitability assessment technology by recruiting, educating, and investing in facilities for specialized personnel.
